"It's amazing what God can do with just a few simple words...

I remember walking up to the information booth after Sunday evening service at The Rock Church. Octavia was in her usual spot so I stopped by to say hi. She preceded to ask me if I was going on the trip to Israel she was planning for the members of our congregation. I replied I couldn't go because I was in the process of buying a house, and then I heard the 10 words that have since changed my life forever...

"That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard you say!"

She then asked me about the God I serve and if I had a desire to go to Israel. I told her that I would love to go to Israel and she said does your God have a

limit on His bank account. I started realizing that I do serve a big God and what if His plans for my life were bigger than I ever dared to dream.

Now I realize that God's plan for my life is incredible. I used to work for a golf company and sit behind a computer all day. I had a great boss, great co-workers, and could even fellowship with other Christians at work. I enjoyed working for the company so much I stayed there for 7 years. Then God started to ask me what was I really accomplishing with my life. I was happy but I knew there had to be more to life than just sitting at a desk all day long.

I traveled to London for work and while I was there I read the book "If You Want To Walk On Water Then You Have To Get Out Of The Boat". When Peter walked on water he began to sink, but at least he was the only one who could say he walked on water with Jesus. I decided that I wanted to walk on water with Jesus and not just watch from a boat, and I knew if I didn't do it now I would regret for the rest of my life.

Well God wanted me to give up the one thing that up until that point I was never willing to give up...my job. I always knew that was the one thing that kept me from walking on water and experiencing the fullness of life that God had for me. As you can imagine it was pretty difficult to leave my job behind, but God took me a step further. He wanted to see how bad I wanted to walk on water with Him. A job I had desired for 2 years finally became available a week before I was to give my resignation, and all I had to do to get the job was stay at my company.

Although tempting, it wasn't going to deter me from walking on water with my King. However, 2 weeks after I gave my resignation and one month before I was scheduled to leave for India I got a call out of the blue for my dream job. This job was much harder to turn down especially since my family thought I was crazy for not accepting it.

The funny thing is that I would have been crazy to accept it because I am exactly where God wants me to be. Not only am I serving the Lord on the mission field, but He has given me a wife, whom I wouldn't of been able to marry unless I was in India on the mission field with her. She epitomizes Proverbs 31, I wake up and call her blessed every morning and know that she is a gift that only God could have given me.

God has shown me 2 important lessons on this walk:

1. I didn't know the joy of living until I started walking on the water with Him.

2. You only live life once, but once is enough if you do it right!

God Bless You! Please pray for my wife and me.

In Christ with love,

John
